Come and join the SKTC crew to recon the Ironman Melbourne 70.3 swim course every Friday morning until 8th Nov 2024. Head Coach of SKTC Steve Davis will take the session offering tips and tricks for race day. Coaches will be on shore or in the club Kayak with the swimmers for safety.

All levels of athlete welcome, but must have a Tri Vic Membership for insurance purposes.

*We are in the water at 6:15am. Don't be late or you will miss the safety brief and that means you can't swim with the club.

SKTC Club Ride

Meeting Point: Kevin Bartlett Reserve Burnley, Yarra Boulevard. If you are driving there is lots of free, all day parking at the reserve at the end of F.R. Smith Drive.

Equipment: Preferably road bike rather than TT bike, as much of the ride is on bike path and has some technical corners and climbs. We will be stopping at a cafe but bring enough drink and nutrition to sustain you for 3 hour ride. It could also be cold and wet so dress appropriately with layers.

Route: Follow bike paths, Kew Boulevard and relatively quiet roads to Eltham for the Mt Pleasant loop back to Eltham for a cafe stop, before riding back to the Yarra Boulevard. Total ride is 68km with 780m of climbing and should take ~3-4 hours, including cafe stop. There are multiple options to shorten the ride and stopping points to re-group. The full route can be seen by following the link in the FB Event page.

Meeting at the Parkdale Beach Cafe & Kiosk at 7am for a 7:15am sharp roll out followed by an open water swim in the pristine waters of Parkdale Beach.

There will be 2 groups, a longer, faster group riding 2.5-3hrs and a shorter leisurely group riding 45-90min. Coach Steve will then have the kayak out in the bay to keep an eye on all swimmers before we head in for coffee and breakfast at the cafe. http://www.parkdalebeachcafe.com.au/menu/menu-in-full/

With Melb 70.3 only 12 weeks away, it's time to start getting the outdoor bike skills up to scratch and practice OWS skills.

Athlete Mental Health Survey

Athlete Mental Health Survey

Survey Link

Coach Steve was lucky enough to be invited onto the panel to provide guidance on the creation of this new questionnaire from Monash University, and now it is time for the validation phase.

A lot of people participate in "mental health fundraisers" like the push up challenge, movember etc, but raising money for mental health research is only half the battle. The money becomes meaningless if there are no participants for these studies as low participant numbers means the research is baseless. It also gives you a chance to contribute to the cause if you don't have the financial means.

If you have some spare time, please jump in and complete this test survey for your chance to win a $50 gift card.
